On Tuesday 21st May our Year 6 pupils joined their counterparts from Helmingham and Bedfield primary schools on a visit to Alton Water. The weather was perfect for being on the water with a gentle breeze and sunshine providing the backdrop to the day. The children enjoyed kayaking, sailing and sail boarding. It was tremendous fun and gave the children a well earned reward for all of the effort that they put in during SATs week. Take a look at the photographs to see what they got up to. We are looking forward to meeting up with the other schools again for our joint residential trip later in the term.
On Tuesday 4th June we all went to visit two different local castles. We were able to compare and contrast the buildings and it was fascinating to find out about local history. At Orford we climbed to the top using the spiral stairs whilst holding onto the ropes and hand rails. At the top we had a tremendous view and it would have been easy to see any ships coming up the nearby river. Inside the building we were able to look up the chimneys and stand in the huge fireplaces and look down the well. Some of us even looked down from the latrines (toilets) to the ground below. There were lots of chambers to explore and we also drew the castle in our sketchbooks. In the afternoon we spent a couple of hours looking around Framlingham Castle. We walked around the walls and again had a very good view of the surrounding countryside. Finally we looked at some of the artefacts in the museum and the red telephone was a true favourite. Take a look at the pictures below to see our fabulous day.
