The Pupil Premium Grant is a Department for Education funding scheme that aims to improve the attainment of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Funding is calculated on the basis of the number of pupils who meet specific criteria. These are pupils who:
- Currently receive free school meals or have received them at any time in the last 6 years
- Have parents in the armed forces
- Are looked after by people other than their immediate family
