Autumn Term 2018
Who wants to learn to play a woodwind or brass instrument? September 2018
Children in Key Stage Two were treated to a demonstration of different woodwind and brass instruments in a special assembly. It was great fun and several pupils had a go and blew their very first notes. This was followed by an information evening for parents. 12 pupils took up the opportunity and are now making some truly fabulous music in regular lessons.
Commemoration of the War Graves in Earl Soham - November 8th 2018
On Thursday 8th November children from Blue and Yellow classes visited our local cemetery and placed some special markers on the two war graves from the First World War. The markers were supplied by the Suffolk branch of the Royal British Legion. The children were given a brief history of the two soldiers by a local resident and were amazed to hear the the father of one of them (Reverend) was the chair of governors at the school at the time of the war. The School council leaders placed the markers on each grave.
Peninsular Art Project - November 2018
Every pupil in the school contributed to our art instillation which we submitted to the Peninsular project and was put on public display. The exhibition was opened by Maggi Hamblin. Our artwork shows a wave of mud which flows into a sea of poppies. The names of all of the fallen from the village are included and silhouettes were designed and cut by hand to represent the soldiers and animals involved in the war.
